Quite dense in colour. A little closed on nose and palate after the initial decant. Dark red fruits with cherry to the fore - with air an intense aroma of earth and forest floor with dried fruits which follow through to the medium to full bodied palate finishing with persistent tannins. Overall this is latent with more development to come in the future. Again the 2005 vintage proves to be long living particularly for Grand Crus. In hindsight probably would’ve been good to open up in up to 5 years time. Some astringency on the finish.

The 2nd of 3 wines in the Corton Rouge bracket. Tasted blind. Again - fragrant perfume, the epitome of fine Red Burgundy. On the palate luscious black cherries - juicy. You could happily drink this now although should be kept in a cool cellar into the 2030s. So impressed I bought a bottle at the end of the day.

Such an impressive eye opener. Exudes class and elegance. Accelerates through the mid palate and keeps delivering lifted, sweet fruit with unparalleled verve. I almost cried when I watched the last bricky pour leave the bottle.

Lovely pale ruby with terrific aromatic punch - black cherry, raspberry, strawberry, dried orange peel, violet, forest floor and a hint of funky barnyard showing it is already developing well. Good acidity and low tannin, very long on the finish. Delicious

Tasted blind. Brownish dark tawny color. Translucent. Funky nose. Notes of dark fruit, black cherry, pepper, cranberry and some earthy spice. Tart in the mouth, but the fruit still goes deep. With air the tartness softens. For its age this bottle was holding very well. Guessed 85 Faiveley Clos de Beze.
