See previous note from 45 weeks ago. Before tasting this we had finished off the last of a Guigal Côtes du Rhône. The Telegramme was like a CdR with more mid palate fruit, more tar, more savoury and more power. A good but not great wine.

The 2nd wine to Vieux Telegraphe’s famed La Crau. Sweet Grenache raspberry notes on nose and palate. Fresher, more fruit and less savoury than I was expecting, although there is a note of light tar. Tannins are fine and very fluid. Hasn’t got the depth of La Crau. 80% Grenache 10% Syrah 6% Mourvèdre 4% Cinsault.

Classic Châteauneuf-du-Pape nose of chocolate over berries with some pepper and garrigue. Bold, juicy, milk chocolate with enough acid to keep things fresh. A little boozy and young tannins. Not the most complex but what it does, it does very well. Yummy.

Medium to dark garnet in color; perfumey aromas of roses and garrigue and wild strawberries. In the mouth, bright berries, cherry and lavender mix with gravely minerals and fine grained tannins. The finish is tinged with white pepper and Kirsch.

I am so impressed with this wine. Despite it being the youngest of La Crau, the vines are still older than 20 years. What to say really....this wine is sublime. Soft notes of red berries but the palate is ripe blue and black berries. Almost like grabbing a handful of berries out of a bowl and devouring them. Cloves as well then there's also an amazing granite like minerality to it while the finish lasts an eternity, similar to bell chime slow resonating out, as I said....sublime and this is only Brunier's second wine from the vineyard.
