What a gentle surprise- my homeboy had been hanging onto this for a while. Great aromatics. All that raspberry & garrique just erupting out of the glass. Not as grippy or tannic as expected, which says more about my lack of experience with ‘Papes. Just found it elegant & generous, if not a bit shy. Very accesible.

A bit meaty, maybe a touch reductive. Smooth. Preserved red fruit and licorice. Very mellow. Time to drink up.

Mid to pale dirty red - like garnet in colour. Sweet ripe raspberry notes with a smelly nuance - a touch of Brett which is not unusual in CdP in my experience. That note blew off after a couple of hours. Interestingly Barb thought a baked apple note which I didn’t get but I see James Molesworth did, albeit 10 years ago. Palate is medium bodied with those savoury spicy raspberry earthy flavours from the nose. Medium minus acid, still with good grip with a little bitterness to finish off - not off putting. I was advised to drink this 2009 before the older 2007 - the latter being a special vintage.

Aromas of loam, plums and light tarry nuances which translate onto the medium weight palate with M+ intensity. Tell tale garrigue notes of underbrush and thyme. Soft Liqueur cherries. I think after Burgundy my favourite World Wine regions would have to be both CDP and Cote Rotie. Celebrating an unexpected win for the Coalition in the Australian Election after all the Polls and the Bookmakers were tipping a Labour win. Scott Morrison will be our Prime Minister for the next 3 years and beyond I would think.

Ripe raspberry, dramatic spice, dynamic acidity somehow, herbaceous, forest floor, soothing tannin. A little robust and all over the place but quite complex also.

Very ripe, and a little raisined. But smooth as hell.

Syrah heavy nose followed by earth, baking spices and dark red fruit. Rich layered red fruit on palette. sublime texture and smooth tannins. Only complaint might be heat on back end.

A little hot on the nose and palate but still freaking delicious. Nose carries through with red fruit compote, licorice whips, leather, balsam, lavender, roasted herbs, moss, funk, and meat. Palate plays more on compote, licorice, and balsam with kicks of spice and leather. There's that savoriness coming through on the palate as well. Despite some alc. poking out this is really beginning to show well. Expecting more organic earth, black tea, and umami notes in the future but still a brilliant perfume right now. Tannin still has a little edge that keeps the wine balanced. Humbled to try wines like this when I can. 375 ml
