Domaine du Gros' Noré
Bandol Mourvedre Blend
Tart plum jam with a core of cast iron. My go-to for a Canadian Fall evening, HNIC and a 🔥 going…. Surprised at how nicely these age, needed 45 min decant.

Oct 22nd, 2023Really chewy tannins for the age with this producer, but it eventually settled down w some air. Seemed much more like the structure of its Kermit cousin at Tempier vs what I expect from younger Gros Nore bottlings. Pleasantly surprised. This could go another 10 years easily.

Dec 4th, 2021Still dense and structured, especially for producer who’s wines I find a little more immediate and generous. A distinctive old barrel character was incredibly apparent on day 1, coupled with an insane amount of crushed mint and talcum made for an interesting take. Today the wine was much more behaved, stewed black cherry, , prune, fermented sausage, tar, dried herbs, fur and leather. Can really sense the sunshine in this wine. Bœuf Carottes for the win 😋

Sep 27th, 2021Rich & velvety smooth on the palate with big dark plum, chocolate cherries, dried herbs and mushroom. Pairing with garlicky lamb sirloins. Happy Friday.

Mar 7th, 2020Wine 2 of the Daube Provençal dinner. So much character. So minerally and iodine on the nose, dark blackberry extract fruit too. Rich and clingy in the mouth but with nice acidity and the tannins there but not obtrusive. Nice!

Oct 28th, 2019Savory Mourvèdre with beautiful structure and length. Took several hours to open up but paired wonderfully with hanger steak with a charred scallion sauce. Earth. Has years ahead of it.

Aug 30th, 2018This is the 6th or 7th batter in your line-up who consistently comes through with the game winning hit more than the big boppers. Youthful opulence and grainy cherry tar. It’s herbaceous and curvaceous and I’m pairing it with mushroom ravioli and “The Staircase” on Netflix tonight...the Betta fish got shutout.
