We explored nine Grand Montmirail wines from Gigondas spanning 2009-2019, all GSM blends as typical. This 2009 was the winner.

Tar, garrigue, cranberry, rhubarb, Lavender

80% Grenache (45-55 year old vines), 15% Syrah and 5% Mourvèdre. This is deep, rich and brooding. Tasting more like Syrah than Grenache with its black pepper and black olive notes. Yet there's the sweetness of old vine Grenache to yield a complex and delicious wine.

An outstanding wine that is drinking beautifully right now.

Nice blend of soil and bone. Medium body Tate’s of BlackBerry. Like it. perfect with a steak frites. It transports me to France! But I’m in my where my frites were sweet potato frites!

Medium-light, neither particularly sweet nor dry (a nice ride), a bit of vine and soil. Overall, drinks French, but not heavily acidic or tannic; smooth.
