Pure and nearly drinking perfect. Layer upon layer of cinnamon, puffs of smoke and minerals. Maybe as good as the 2005.

A surprise visit from the Jersey Boy and he decisively chose Burgundy as his libation of the night and I gladly obliged. Great people make good wine so much better and as the conversation flowed the wine opened and evolved. This was tight with a touch of funk to start but with the sea air the sweet, silky fruit took center stage. This is still a massive wine but it is so so lush and round with a substantial amount of tension and intensity. Very much on its way up and it will only get better for the next 10 years. Thank you @Joe Lucca for the hang. Smiles all around @Mike R

Talk about sexy! And the wine was great as well. My first post after a bit of a hiatus from Delectable. In San Diego for a meeting and was able to sneak away for a few sips. Thanks so much to @Bill Bender for generously making time to host me at his lair, perched high above the city looking down on the harbor, for great friendship, conversation, and of course, killer juice. The initial notes of stewed plums and spice blew off after a bit of time in the decanter, revealing layers of deep, rich voluptuous fruit and earthy minerals. Almost surprisingly youthful and powerful at 15, this will continue to evolve for a long time. One of my favorite Burgs. Thanks again, Bill!!!

2002 vintage. Fairly and surprisingly on the darker side of medium ruby. On the nose, rich and coffeed. Ripe black fruited. Sweet smelling. On the nose, bit of a hammer to crack a nut. Seems over extracted. Good concentration and very long. But tannins are big and round and the wine is unbalanced for me. Drink now until 2030+.
