1 person found it helpfulDec 30th, 2019I don’t drink Cinsault, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Imagine you were attempting to describe red wine to someone who had never drunk any. Words would no doubt fail you, leaving them with only the vaguest impression as if they’d discovered it in a dream. Dreams often lack detail. Just as one cannot read in a dream, you struggle to describe the aromas of great red wines and they come out in a jumble. This is what it’s like to drink this red. First impression is it’s an easy-drinking red—well balanced but no big deal. Thin, but not too thin. Juicy but not jammy. No aromatics. Your second impression might be tainted by the fact that it’s a French red, and therefore either very good or very bad. The final impression, however, is that this $15 bottle is what most other $15 reds wish they were: so generic as to be the default, the house red.

Oct 18th, 2018When would I get an artificial cork again after the last disaster...
Promptly the next wine proved to be just that.
Varietal Cinsault grown on hillside in St Chinian region. 50+ year old vines. No oak.
First a whiff of yeast extract.
Next cherry, cocoa, coriander seed. Little raw meat.
Super silky, cherry palate with juicy acidity and low tannins.
Cherry skin aftertaste.
A nice surprise. Easy drinking, juicy despite 13.5%.
And still great fruit despite being 9!years old.
Nothing complex but so satisfying....

Beautiful strawberries & cherries makes for easy drinking goodness. Vibrant bouquet of beautiful red berries. Old-world european pedigree but still approachable/enjoyable for new world drinkers . At $13, a steal.
