Domaine Denis Mortet
Mes Cinq Terroirs Gevrey-Chambertin Pinot Noir
Pale to mid crimson in colour with a tawny edge. Pouring from the decanter- quite tawny. Earthy fungal notes - a touch of animale. A wow palate particularly for a Village wine (actually more of a Premier Cru quality). Totally integrated oak with a fleshy sweetness. - this wine would last till its 20th Birthday. A fabulous Burgundy without the depth and complexity of a Grand Cru but at a fraction of the price of a GC. Made by the late, great Denis Mortet before his untimely passing. Probably the best village red burgundy I’ve ever tasted.

Jul 2nd, 2023As the name suggests this is sourced from 5 different terroirs in Gevrey Chambertin. Red fruits with a rhubarb note, decayed plant matter, forest floor a lovely perfume with a touch of rose petals. A mellow palate showing red fruits with resolved tannins. A great mouthfeel with more substance than you would expect - with depth of flavour and medium plus intensity. One of the best Village red burgundies I’ve ever had. A great vintage from a wonderful wine maker who sadly isn’t with us any longer.

May 2nd, 2021Mid Ruby with a tawny rim. Aromas of polish together with earthy, forest floor , pepper and strawberry notes. Light to medium bodied with fine tannins. Expensive for a Village wine but generally you get what you pay for. The last vintage made by Denis Mortet who has passed away.
