Domaine Denis Mortet
Mes Cinq Terroirs Gevrey-Chambertin Pinot Noir
14%. Too much alcohol. Fruit driven. Almost like some California Pinots. Seems sweet. More plum than cherry. Licorice. One more brick in the wall. Burgundy is loosing it. Definitely not something I will buy more off - and certainly not at 100$.

Feb 1st, 2020So I bought this wine and had it now twice. 18h after opening. Deep dark cherry tons of tannins plenty of minerals. Oak bark. This wine will go for a very long time. Despite its price 80$ worth buying. Although I would pu this down for at least 4 years.

Jun 8th, 2018Sweet juice. 2015 vintage at home. This a village wine with 1er cru quality. Extremely young, all red berry fruit with wood already integrated. Almost sweet in long aftertaste. Clearly would benefit from cellaring a number of years but extremely round and tasty in its youth. HAs enough acidity and tannins to carry it through good aging. Extremely difficult to get and with only Six bottles in my cellar it is too good to not drink it quickly. What a waste of life, Denis was on his way to become a superstar. His son has taken over and he has not missed a beat. I won’t be around when these vines have 50 to 60 years of age but boy what a future this domaine could have.
