Outstanding for an introductory gevrey. Plenty of red fruit with some barnyard/forest floor development.

Pale to mid crimson in colour with a tawny edge. Pouring from the decanter- quite tawny. Earthy fungal notes - a touch of animale. A wow palate particularly for a Village wine (actually more of a Premier Cru quality). Totally integrated oak with a fleshy sweetness. - this wine would last till its 20th Birthday. A fabulous Burgundy without the depth and complexity of a Grand Cru but at a fraction of the price of a GC. Made by the late, great Denis Mortet before his untimely passing. Probably the best village red burgundy I’ve ever tasted.

As the name suggests this is sourced from 5 different terroirs in Gevrey Chambertin. Red fruits with a rhubarb note, decayed plant matter, forest floor a lovely perfume with a touch of rose petals. A mellow palate showing red fruits with resolved tannins. A great mouthfeel with more substance than you would expect - with depth of flavour and medium plus intensity. One of the best Village red burgundies I’ve ever had. A great vintage from a wonderful wine maker who sadly isn’t with us any longer.

For an “entry-like” gevrey this is an outstanding wine. Cherries and strawberries, salty, mineral. Medium weight and still quite firm. Beautiful and yammy now but will be great 5 to 7 years from now.

GreAt depth, great salinity wonderful effort in a great year. Drinks well now after 1 hour decanting. Wait for another 3 to 5 years. Lucky to have 11/2 case.
