Great and funky nose shows a fair amount of barnyard leading a caravan of plush dark cherry and ripe red berry fruit. Bit of sweet spice too. On the palate, it’s got kids of gravelly earth and dark berry ooze, and the texture shows lots of soft but unobtrusive tannin. Nice balance. An astounding value.

Nothing says V-day like making biscuits and drinking Merlot! This is a lovely one good for drinking young. You gotta decant. My bestie detected a whiff of nail polish. The acidity, volatile or not, is high and the plums are rich. Now to put some blackberry jam on the biscuits: perfect pairing!
