Domaine de Montille
Bourgogne Pinot Noir
Fading gracefully. Fun find for less than $40 at a new (to me) local shop. Red and purple fruit moving towards the faded watercolor end of the spectrum, matched with some dried flowers and earth. Palate is resolved, gentle. Spoke quietly but had a little something to say. Would love the chance to try some of de Montille’s village and premier bottlings with this age. This one enjoyed with homemade pasta and fresh porcini mushrooms.

Jul 9th, 2019At one of our favourite lunch spots in Copenhagen - specialising in Smørrebrød - Danish Open topped sandwichs. Some barnyard notes amongst the strawberry and a touch of feral. Loved it. Barely medium bodied. Went well with mainly fish dishes. Light tannins - drink now. Son Hugh and wife Barb in the background.

Aug 19th, 2018Cherries, strawberry-rhubarb compote, raspberry tea, mushrooms, tobacco, savory herbs. Perfect acid/soft velvet tannin balance, light-medium bodied, silky-juicy texture, good length on earthy-slightly smoky finish. Excellent structure, aromatic, soft yet firm tannins usually associated with Montille's. Outstanding village Bourgogne.
