Domaine de Montille
Aux Malconsorts Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Pinot Noir
Vosne-Romanée, Côte de Nuits, Burgundy, France
One of my favorite terroirs in all of Burgundy. 2016 Malco from de Montille is showing beautifully, with superb definition, deep fruit intensity, a vibrant, sappy and textural palate with fine grained tannins and a long saline and mineral laced finish.

Dark raspberry, violets, a little smoke. Very pure. Quite brooding. Great clarity

Bright cherry, a slightly sweet confected edge. Longer on the nose this is really pretty with spices, a hint of licorice/ star anise. A little green edge. This is settling. Lovely stuff

Very firm upon opening. Needed an hour or so to get going. Lots of powerful black fruit, dense brown spice, dark floral. Needs much more cellar time.
