Sentinel Oak Pyramid Block Syrah

2007. This wine refuses to let go of its youth. Deep, dark, rich fruit, beautiful texture, and refreshing acid leading to a long and savory finish. Tannins supple and young. And you’d never spot it at the 14.5% abv on the label. Impossible to guess this is 11 years old. Another top offering from Bill Easton. (Delectable made me put a number in this. Not cool.)

Excellent. Red fruit and funk on the nose. Palate: Peppery minerals, red cherries, strawberries, plum, tobacco, smoke. Iron and carmelized meat on the finish.

incredibly rich, but not fat with overbearing ripe fruit. definitely more towards savory. Bill Easton does it right. more time to go with this wine.

Light brown hue with dominant prune and raisin flavors. Moderately oxidized, definitely past its prime, but mostly intact nonetheless

More flowery & perfumed than L'Autre. Sweet plum and violets.

Not sure what I was expecting but it wasn't this. Clean and bright, still on the young side, with all sorts of complexity. Red and black fruits, leaning towards the baked side, impressive acid, damp earth, grilled meat and bacon fat, all in a lean, concentrated package. I need to find more of this. 14.5% abv.

This bottling usually brings Cornas to mind, perhaps Colombo. Dark fruited with game, smoldering coals and baked clay. Decade or more ahead for this one.

2016- Nice cherry and strawberry notes with some black pepper. Good acidity and tannins Does not seem like a wine with a high alcohol content

Very nice balanced Cali Syrah! Purple ink and violets and spice and dark fruits flowing into lively texture and long finish.

Old earthy Syrah. Bacon, sage, tobacco.
