Rose and mint, cocoa powder, red berries, cherry pit, iron, dry pine. More ethereal than dense, though it is balanced and long, light and energetic. Shows the vintage, in the most lovely way. Tasted blind at the domaine.

Good dark red; not crystal-clear. Very ripe, musky, multidimensional nose combines blackberry, raspberry, violet, earth, game, black pepper and herbs, plus a positive vegetal nuance. Plush, silky and very ripe but not particularly sweet, with concentrated dark fruit, spice and pepper flavors complicated by a hint of prune. ("More fruit ripeness than the '15," noted Aubert de Villaine just moments after we had tasted the '15 La Tâche) Finishes with substantial dusty tannins and a note of licorice. Not particularly high in acidity but this extremely complex wine is still just short of its peak drinking window. (Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, March 2018)

I'm sorry my buddies from NJ were not with me to enjoy this amazing bottle. Special thanks to my host for sharing this bottle. Although, still a baby, truly an intoxicating nose with intense red fruit, spice, forest floor, mocha. Perfectly balanced and structured with an amazing finish.

La Tache somewhere between late 1930s and late 1940s. Label partially ripped and worn away and cork crumbled on extraction. 20% ullage. Ethereal for nearly an hour.

Spectacular and improved over 90 minutes in the glass before I had to finish it with the cheese course!
