Deep, murky tawny color and opaque. Big perfumed nose. Notes of sweet plums, dried herbs, hot cherry kirsch and black earth. Big and rich in the mouth. Hot. Hard to drink without something to eat beside it. Has a silkyness but still has some structure to resolve. Would be nice if it could shed some of the heat (alcohol) too.

Aug 19th, 2020Purple tinged dark tawny color. Great nose. Floral with lots of fruit. Notes of red fruit, herbs de Provence, graphite and a little mocha. Subdued in the mouth. While not overwhelming, both bottles were in good shape with tannins resolves and some modest acidity. These were clearly ready for consumption.

CdP gone all Burg on me, in the very best way. Funk needed half hour to blow off, but what followed was fully resolved strawberry compote, earth-soaked leather, bretty notes. Long, long finish. Drink now.

2001. Green olives and mint with menthol. Flavorful but odd taste presentation. More licorice and more balance emerged with time.

OMG, this may be wine of the year. This is amazing and a reminder that our wines need a little age. If you like Grenache driven wine, then go get some of this.
