Domaine de la Colline
Chinon Cabernet Franc
Better than the first bottle several months ago. Still a strange lack of the expected peppery aromas. Woody aroma likely stem inclusion since wine is SS aged.

Jun 21st, 2016The Cabernet Franc was extremely tame. You had to look for the pyrazines. Delicate body, mildly aromatic. Acidity med, finish med.

Sep 7th, 2024Dark ruby color. Aromas of earth, Forrest Floor, violets, rose hips and dried herbs. Pallet is full of black fruit with a hint of leather. Little, if any, pyrazine is present. No oak. (Completely aged in Stainless Steel.) Juicy texture. This wine has a memorable rustic quality. Thanks for the gift, Kase.

Aug 7th, 2022Had me fooled: it’s a big un, full of dust & pencil lead, w/ bright acid. Not a great amount of fruit & darker than expected in the glass. Certainly a savory aspect, & sneaky bell pepper ghosts around in the background. It almost clowns the notion of Cabernet Franc, but something steady, noble, grounded keeps it true. You might not guess it blind, but it makes sense anyhow.
