Like the name of this wine, this is a beauty. Rich and voluptuous with red fruit flavors but still balanced with just enough acidity that you want the next sip, unlike most CdPs I know and don’t drink very often now. You know you are drinking something grown close to the ocean. It’s big but not too big which is actually hard to do and exhilarating to drink. You have to remind yourself to slow down.

Yves Leccia’s 2019 Île de Beauté IGP Rouge is a blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Niellucciu, hailing from the northerly appellation of Patrimonio, Corsica.

Île de Beauté – the namesake for many wines produced on the island – translates to ‘island of beauty’ in English.

This is a beautiful wine, indeed. It is medium ruby with ripe cherry, strawberry, and kirsch notes leaping out of the glass; it also offers licorice, fennel, violet, and subtle meaty characteristics. The fruit is unmistakably intense and concentrated. I suspect it’s a reflection of the dry, sun-soaked climate on this beautiful, mountainous Mediterranean Island.

This is such a versatile and food-friendly wine – it’s definitely worth a taste if you have the chance (preferably while gazing upon Corsica’s coastal seascapes). Cheers to the wines of Corsica!

2015. First taste and really like. Dry. Earthy. Bold but not over powering. Beautiful color. Easy to drink

I know it to early to drink this however it seemed like a good choice 80% Grenache & 20% Niellucciu a local Corsican variety that I’ve decided I love (especially because they grow organically - did a decant on this because of its age wow super pretty and deep black fruit
