Les Amoureuses Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Pinot Noir

Beautiful wine, but for its value it’ll leave you wanting. While I love the vintage for the Domaine as I believe it provides a good balance to the style, this bottle was a bit thin on the palate. I wonder if decanting would have helped it gain some weight.

Something off about this on the nose. Butterscotch and burnt rubber. Heat damage?. Beneath that, pure intense and powerful fruit. A shame

Deep violet and black cherry. A touch of toffee. Savory with a hint of black pepper.

Very vivid and defined. Sweet Candy notes. Intense but clear fruit

Bright and fresh. Cherry and sweet herbal notes. Light and fresh

Deep intense fruit. Plush and plummy. Lovely stuff.

Deep fruit but light edges. Pretty lifted strawberry notes on the de Vogue gnarly bed of intense dark fruit. Dynamic and pretty. Cherry notes.

Lovely broad soft fruit. Deep gnarly herb tinged plummy fruit. Soft with a little spiciness

The word that kept coming to mind was “precision”, as in laser-defined layers and puzzle pieces coming together perfectly, cleanly. Ornung. A range of deep and broad red berries, raspberry most prominent. Still obvious tannins, but again perfectly delineated in the 1 minute finish that just lingered. At the very beginning of a drinking window.

Full and round, yet lean and elegant. Red fruit dominant.
