Dark tawny color. Huge bouquet in the nose. Notes of black and red fruit, rhubarb, Asian spice, candied cherries and dark moist soil. Rich and textured in the mouth. Great finish. Vogue nailed it in 98. These will easily go another 15-20 years.

Dark scarlet tawny. Almost opaque. Deep, sensual nose. Notes of black cherry, violets, black soil, rhubarb, and spice. Rich in the mouth. Nice fruit with integrated tannins. Approachable and fruit forward with light acidity, very nice for the vintage.

If you’re in a bubble, drink your way through! This is still quite reticent and intense. Lovely dark fruit. Sappy and deep. Good stuff.

The 2016 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru has a very different nose than the Village Cru, here, more red fruit, nicely pixelated, certainly more mineral-driven and with more spice. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, good body, focused and animated with a dash of white pepper and clove towards the finish, the mouth tingling long after it has departed. This oft overlooked label should not be. Tasted at the Domaine. (Neal Martin, Vinous, October 2019)
