I had high hopes for this Vermentino from Corsica but was left disappointed. It has the scrub brush aroma from the familiar from Sardinia and Liguria with notes of green apple, pear, bell pepper and hay but it is too soft on the palate, lacking the lemon and lime acid bite and the saline finish and minerality that would give it added dimension. As it is, it’s too soft to make a great pairing with oysters or seafood.

As this opens up, it's that classic sciaccarellu fruit. Wild strawberries and stones. Get it. Look at that ruby color!! #shockarocku

Bomb Corsican Sangiovese and Malamo all done in cement in hard core granite soil. Super bright and fresh with wonderful structure and acid. It's like a man from the Loire married a lady from Montalcino.

Vermentino tasting. Winner of the night. Floral, mineral, scrub brush, seawater on a hot day.

Wow! I'd forgotten how yummy this old vine Vermentino is. Salty and tangy with whit floral aroma so you want to suck it down but not so fast as this sucker has real complexity to ponder.
