Punchy and satisfying. Better on night one. Straightforward and polished Rotie elements, good ripeness and acidity, but aromas are basic.

Fun “value” for Côte Rôtie, an appellation that always seems to deplete my savings account with ease. No, this will not change your life, but I think it’s an honest wine, if anything you can argue there’s a little too much oak, but nothing offensive. In fact, it really starting to integrate, the time in bottle is treating this nicely and I suspect that it will being pleasure for a few more years easily. The nose is classic, pepper, spice, beef blood and mesquite, then coffee, bramble, crushed granite and sweet wood emerge. Palate is taught, fine tannins hold their grip, acid is edgy. The mouthfeel is compact, wound and absolutely screams to be at the table. Fun wine that scratches that CRôtie itch.

So elegant. Wow. Open as well. The finesse was stunning. What balance and poise. A baby but really open.

Licorice and spice on the nose. Stunning fruit. Just delicious and juicy. Nice spice on the palate. Fantastic lingering licorice spice finish. Will age for sure but is drinking wonderfully now. Definitely a wine you wish you had bought more.

Big olive on the nose with dark meaty Syrah fruit underneath. Ripe and juicy with terrific freshness due to great acids. Lovely silky fruit and juicy. Much better on day 2. Long.

Still some oak on the nose.

Palate has some oak.

Into the decanter

Ok this is going to be spectacular. The fruit on the palate is so dense and rich. Spice. Expansive, dense internal aromatics. A hint of licorice.

Wow. May be better than a 9.5.

Wait at least 3 years. Likely 5.
