Cab/Syrah blend and always slays. Nose of berry fruit, some tobacco and tar, superbly mineral, blood, cherry, lovely nuanced nose. Heavily fruited. Palate is just packed with dense and ripe fruit with gobs of purity, tobacco laced berry fruit and velvety tannins that are sweet and pump the fruit. A VDT from a master like Gripa is always more than a VDT. Terrific freshness and structure to age 5-8 years.

Gripa. Sneaky good. 50 Cab S/50 young vine Syrah from St Joseph and some vines on banks of the Rhône. This is the '09 bottling. Vintage only indicated on the cork. Shibby!

Acide, un peu vert et surtout ayant trop d'acidité volatile. Je n'aime pas du tout ce vin, et il ne vaut absolument pas son prix dans ces conditions là.

50/50 Cab Sauv and Syrah. Blends the best of both, with potent aromatic black fruit grounded by strong eucalyptus, cedar, and mint notes. Grippy tannins will resolve in time but are approachable now.
