Domaine Bernard-Bonin
Vieilles Vignes Meursault Chardonnay
Silly good. I can see why bonin’s wines are going absolutely nuts price wise. Slight reduction followed by butter caramel, lemon bar and white flowers.
So much richness and so much tension. It really took two hours to emerge but once it did, wow!

Feb 8th, 2018Nose has crushed pear, sliced yellow apple, vanilla candy, dried lemon peel, tangerine pith, (moist) granulated white sugar and lemon oil.
Palate has mashed pear, lemon zest, lemon flesh, under-ripe white peach, tangerine essence and (faint) wet slate.
Fantastic balance of (medium) acidity with great length to the finish. Just a fantastic bottle with great cellaring before our acquisition within the past couple years.
I suggest not passing by any version of a Bernard-Bonin wine whenever you see one, always great, better with age. 2013/2014 white Burgundy's are just drinking so perfect right now. Drink this 2022-2028.
Decanted 2H, continuing development.

Enjoyed this with very good friends at Jean Georges in NY. Beautiful acidity in the fruit and nice body on the palate. Excellent food pairing wine.
