I tried this blind and guessed Canadian Merlot, lol. Either I suck or the wine does. I don’t mean any disrespect, it was good, it just didn’t taste how I would want my 10 year old 1er cru volnay to taste. It was ruby in colour, fruity, not many mineral notes, soft on acidity… just not what I would have expected this to taste like.

I like it. I thought the 2010 I had last night was much more tastier and more aromatic. Still closed after a couple hour decant. Hints of cedar.

Sep 21st, 2019I had a village level Volnay the other day and it was delicious. So I figured I would try another. Holy smoke. The aromatics are killer. Earthy, ripe cherries, black tea and for a moment I thought spearmint. Elegant grape juice. Pork tenderloin for dinner and Happy Friday to all!!

Beautiful wine suffused with sour cherry, black raspberry, apple wood, moss, all well blended. Bright with tannins and can age but was still delicious -- perfect for Christmas Eve dinner. Perhaps the best wine I had this year.
