Recreation of “Judgement of Paris II” blind Pinot tasting with the addition of a bonus wine from the Central Otago:
pale ruby, thick tears • subtle nose, cherry, red berries, floral notes, caramel • very pure red fruit, minerality, medium body, plenty of silky tannin, 13% ABV, long finish • ages in about 30% new oak, 60-70 year-old vines, grown in clay-rich soil just south of Dijon at the very northern end of the Gevery-Chambertin Grand Cru hill• should evolve nicely but pleasant drinking now

unfortunately just a bit thin. lacking fruit and any real flavor authority. i chalk it up to the vintage.

la Paulee. This was one of the WOTN's for me no doubt due to the format size. 6L and purchased at Rusty Staub's charity auction in NYC back in 2005
