Initial varnishy notes - a little cold. Barb said cherry and mint notes but she was not a fan of this wine. Not living up to being the younger brother of the Clape Cornas. The palate showed mineral and black currant with a tarry note. I have had better examples of Renaissance.

The 2020 Cornas Renaissance is delicious. It bursts with crushed violet, cured meat, menthol and black fruit aromatics. Peppery layers add more complexity. Offering increased concentration and an even riper profile than the 2022, I have no doubt that the powerful and neatly balanced 2020 Renaissance will be a long-distance runner. Medium- to full-bodied, it concludes with persistence on the complex finish. (Nicolas Greinacher, Vinous, March 2024)

No formal notes - too much banter with the kids. More densely packed than I am used to for a Northern Rhone Syrah. I recall meaty notes with spice and earth. More full bodied than medium bodied. A mouthful of flavour with a long future. Rounded tannins.

Awesome vintage and at a great point in its evolution. Long animalistic syrah, game, cigarette ash, rabbit fur, background of black pepper, smooth rounded tannin. Great bouquet jumping out, light on palate

Lovely Cornas. Very similar in quality to the 2000 Clape flagship bottling. Feral blue fruits, bramble and herbs.

Brooding. Black olives and licorice, cola, black pepper and (maybe) some dark cherry. Ready to drink, hopefully by me.

RIP Auguste Clape Needed about an hour in the decanter to open up but eventually showed beautiful notes of violets, chalk, blue fruit and spice. Still young and should age very gracefully.

A total pup. Dark fruits, meat, white pepper and hints of Brett. Clean for Clape but finding myself to hate brett more and more. Firm, chalky tannins.
