Vieilles Vignes Gevrey-Chambertin Pinot Noir

A bit modern and sleek, but very true to form nonetheless.

Quite a nice Gevrey. Ageing but will drink nicely for a few years longer. Fun to taste this with Jean-Luc Burgaud at #lapaulee !

I never much liked '98 in Burgundy. This Burguet was dark and fat, with tons of sediment; the acidity was getting volatile. Smelled nice, though.

Lovely villages wine. Took almost 2 hours for funk to blow off. In a great spot right now.

Turbid. A bit blocky.

Plenty of Gevrey grip but still sumptuous and pure. Dried roses and saddle leather. Surprisingly fresh and clean.

A little past its prime.

Oxidized, bruised dark fruit. Heavy. Some structure/acid but not psyched for a second glass.
