Pale gold. Soft, supple and open knit on the nose and palate. Soft lemon, white flowers, honeyed notes and a subtle salinity. This is beautiful. At the start of maturity but very balanced with detailed and integrated acidity. There’s a lot to live about this. Seamless.

I absolutely adore the 1998 Dom Pérignon at this stage in development, as this was a marvelous surprise to see how balanced and seductive this wine is now. Showing a slightly lower viscosity than the ’96, the 1998 Dom Pérignon greets you with a wonderfully nutty and musty bouquet, followed by great tension and linear progression on the mid-palate. The wonderful sense of freshness complements the nutty, wild mushroom, peat moss and orchard fruit flavors. This has a wonderful saline streak that runs through the exceedingly long finish. While marvelous now, this has at least fifteen years left. Drink 2019-2035- 97

Terrific vintage. Not the P2 which followed, but the Oenotheque, Chef de cave. Brioche with mineral and smoke.

1998 #domperignon obvious age since bottling. Medium gold color. Intense nose of coffee and cream. On the palate it's amazing with a slight resemblance to an #amontillado from #sherry It's smooth and round.

Heavy yeasty autolytic notes on nose & palate. Developed stone fruit, approachable acidity. As it sat in glass & warmed a touch of cork came through on the nose. Must drink faster :)

Whoa, true oxidative goodness here. Brioche, toast, slight lanolin and some awesome oxidized green apple presentation. Lemon curd and lime rind, dust and library notes. Great bottle!
