Last bottle I had held onto but me methinks it was already on the downward slope. One of my fave Canary wines & so originally vital in all kinds of rose petal, forest leaves, & menthol notes, but now more muted. Bottle variability or just 7 years is pushing it?

Aug 23rd, 2020Strong scent of barnyard is the first thing I noticed. Medium bodied, medium tannin, high acidity. Tart cherry and red raspberry flavors, barnyard funk and wet slate. By far the funkiest wine I’ve ever had! Personally, some darker fruit and a richer body would have balanced it out a little better.

Jul 5th, 2020There really is something about island wines. We seem to have an affinity to them all—Madeira, Corsica, Sicily...and here we with are with Canary sack. Red, actually, with terrific poise, balance, and expression of terroir. Double decanted and enjoyed on the second day. Funky nose, with some sweet fruit mixed in. Peppery palate, wet stone, easy fruit, and great acidity. Another winner.
