Vintage 2011 / Cheerful wine! Lots of red fruit. Approachable and fresh. Smooth and nice. #portugal

DoDa = Douro and Dao, from the super Portuguese winemakers Alvaro Castro and Dirk Niepoort.

A Touriga Nacional blend from the birthplace of TN (Dao) and the Douro where it flourishes.

Bold and expressive with dark red and black plush berry fruits, a solid core of ripe and firm polished tannin.

Not the most complex, but quite delicious.

2004 - A successful blend made by Dirk Niepoort and Alvaro de Castro - combining freshness and elegance of Dao and character of Douro - encompasses the best of the two regions. This edition is the result of combining 60% of a blend of wine from the Douro, produced at Quinta de Nápoles from very old vines, one of which is over 120 years old, with 40% of a blend of Dão produced at Quinta da Pellada, from old vines, with the region's characteristic varieties: Tourigo, Jaen, Alfrocheiro and Tinta Roriz 😀

Grenache meets Syrah with balls, razz and strawb with black currants, then the tannins arrive ready for biz. A tinge of garrigue adds herbal complexity, licorice and pepper notes then bring the spice! Well structured, the tannins are full grain and maybe a tad dry, but should integrate better as this young wine ages to maturity.

Pleasant, moderately peppery nose. Pepper persists on tongue, with well balanced fruit and mild tannins.
