Apr 25th, 2022Okay, so I had the 2019 of this a little while back, and I was slightly underwhelmed with the performance. This 2014? Different story. First off, for those who live in the south, the perfect accoutrement to this wine is a Whataburger mushroom and Swiss burger. This wine started to show an aged elegance. Mushroom, a little bit of tart. If I closed my eyes and thought a little bit, I maybe even could have imagined a little bit of pineapple salsa. The 2019 was a little bit flabby by comparison. This wine had shed the fat and was a leaner, yet significantly meaner wine that had great acidity and aged yellow fruit character. Limestone chalky minerality from front to back. Really neat wine. Wish I had a case of this!! Very tempting to rate this 94.

Aug 29th, 2020Definitely cloudy gold in the glass. Skin and concrete egg fermented. Funky mushroom forest floor notes on the nose. Dry, medium weight, saline and a long slinky finish. These wines share characteristics with”natural” wines in a good way. Cries out for hummus, feta and Mediterranean cuisine.

May 2nd, 2020My last bottle of the 2014 direct to press version of this fantastic white. Keeps its freshness while increasing in complexity in the bottle. Gravelly and crisp. Too bad the vines no longer exist. Kudos again to Hardy!
