Celebrating my 3000th Delectable tasting note. Going back in time I see my first note was a South Australian red called Floating Geese 322 weeks ago! Also 443 different regions. I find Delectable has been a great hobby - always interesting to see what other wine lovers are drinking around the world although many are not available in Australia, particularly wines from the USA. This Vintage Champagne from Deutz was pale straw in colour. Lemony Toasty yeasty notes - also nutty aromas with white flowers. An ultra fine bead. Somewhat austere on the palate - refined and restrained, call it elegant but with medium plus persistence of flavour. A classic old school Champagne from a blend of 30% Chardonnay, 65% Pinot Noir and 5% Pinot Meunière. Could cellar for up to 5 more years if desired. One of the “1001 wines to drink before you die. “

Beautiful medium gold with pinpoint bubbles and a beguiling nose of baked red apple, brioche, lemon drop and a hint of almond marzipan. Incredibly creamy on the Palate with a rich impression that is at the same time light and elegant. Terrific balance. This is so light and elegant and the finish goes on forever. This is true testimony to the blender's art - 12 years on and drinking supremely well
