The nose is soft, delicate and a little muted. Green apple, lemon, lime, pineapple, green melon, honeysuckle, fruit blossoms, understated and delicate volcanic minerals & powdery chalkiness with jasmine, spring flowers and yellow lilies.

The body is medium full. The palate starts with ripe/fresh fruits and then evolves from a fruit driven start into heavily pronounced minerality and powdery chalkiness. Green apple, lemon, lime, pineapple, green melon, honeysuckle, fruit blossoms, herbaceous notes, touch of cut grass, understated and delicate volcanic minerals & powdery chalkiness with jasmine, spring flowers and yellow lilies. The acidity is really nice. The finish is well balanced, soft and nothing overdone.

Photos of; the view from their Cellar Door, Sofia waiting to taste on their patio, the entrance to DeMorgenzon and their tasting bar.

Smells like prototypical Chardonnay with some hints of lemon, minerality, and wet stones. Medium body, feels like lees contact but the alcohol is pretty high. Green apple and lemon acidity. Really pretty.

This is a pretty, restrained Chardonnay that I can dig. Lemon curd, tart stone fruit, and a subtle and integrated spice and nuttiness announce themselves on the nose. Much of the same is there on the palate with a touch more tart pineapple and stoniness. Get into it.

Light greenish yellow. Enticing nose with some light nutty elements, green fruits and some sweet spices. Medium acidity (6/10) and light plus bodied. Lush attack with tropical fruits and citrus zest finishing it off with some minerality. Medium length finish. Drink till 2020. | Sample provided by distributor.

This is one of the best Chardonnays that I have tasted from South Africa, let alone under $20 /bottle. Stone fruit flavors (nectarine, white peach) play artfully with broth acidity and a touch of limestone.

This superb value leads off with alluring scents of stone fruits, honeysuckle, smoked meat and sweet oak, then delivers terrific spicy lift to its rich, ripe stone fruit and butterscotch flavors. Firming lemony acidity extends the wine’s finish and should allow for further development. (ST)

Light crisp and balanced oak. Interesting representation of Chardonnay but I dig it

Not as good as 2012. Still pleasant enough. Well made value Chard.
