This 12 year old Merlot from Knights Valley is awesome but could go another 10-20 years, I believe. Big ole Merlot that is delicious. Well done.

Quaffable, but far from transcenant. Actually, this is pretty good. Blueberry on the nose, moderate tannins with a good (but not very deep) finish. Not clear this will benefit from more time in the bottle (this was from a magnum), so enjoy it now.

This goes well with the shattered dreams of a generation of premed students. I had the choice of either this or a 2011 Melville Syrah to go with grading. Decided to go with this one so my tears didn't dilute the flavor while reading the answers. (Seriously - nice wine. I don't know what Merlots are supposed to smell like but this has some interesting fruit on the nose and a good backbone on the palate. Probably good to drink now. )

Pretty tight for first hour. Big tannins and plenty of acidity. Not much fruit showing. Improved after about 2hr. Not really the beauty I expect out of a quality merlot. More muscle, but that suits me just fine.
