2012 Del Dotto 887 Connoisseurs' Series 9 Oaks French Select is a complex wine with a distinctive heavy oak note. This wine is balanced with sweet vanilla, tart cherry and plum flavors The hints of roasting herbs such as rosemary and sage give this wine a mild bitterness that balances the berry fruit and vanilla. Overall this wine shows the complexity of the 9 different oak forests in France juxtaposed against the 2012 Napa Cabernet fruit. This is an oak lovers wine.

Man - at this price, should be better. Have 11 more that I'm going to let sit for a few years. 2012 too young.

Mar 6th, 2015Bacon wine! 887 front American Oak Ustave. Great 2012 St. Helena fruit. Dark red almost black in color. Lots of cherry, blueberry and blackberry right up front with a smokey finish reminiscent of bacon and smoked meat on the back end. Big Rounded tannins with high viscosity leads to a full body wine. This wine will only get better with age but great to drink right now too. This wine is yummy!
