Dark purple in color with a short brick rim.

Full bodied and smooth with medium acidity.

Showing black currants, cooked plums, cedar, tobacco leaf, light earth, herbs and lots of peppercorn.

Long spicy finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This South African Syrah is nice and engaging.

Easy drinking right out of the bottle, and better after an hour of airtime.

Not as complex as I wanted it to be, though.

15% alcohol by volume.

90 points.

$40.

Roasted lavender, black cherry and game. Smells a little hot. Classic sour Syrah funk. Aged well.

Powerfully fruity, very full and rich mouthfeel. This one will punch you in the mouth. But nicely.

Tiefrot mit Blautönen, weich und samtig auf der Zunge, dennoch vollmundig und langanhaltend am Gaumen, Noten von dunkelreifen Pflaumen und Erdbeeren, mit einer Prise Pfeffer.

Amazing flavours. Quite fruity, with a long dry finish one can taste why 2009 was a good year for wine in SA.

Maybe I just had low expectations? Shirazy nose with blueberry compote. Smooth, maybe even creamy with a distinct SA (good) tang of tannin and dark grapeyness. Leather and spice. Nice!

Black cherry, blackberry, black pepper, sweet spices, chocolate, coffee and burned rubber, paired with med-plus lively acidity, med-plus ripe and well-integrated tannin, and very good length. A solid, full-bodied, med-complex, med-balanced Syrah that benefited from aeration. 90
