De Mena
Wabi Sabi Rouge
100 % Cinsault. There doesn't seem to be a website for this estate, so second hand information. Owner Sébastien Agelet started Demena in 2012 with the vineyards of his grandfather (before the grapes were sold to a co-operative). 2019 vintage. Wabi Sabi could mean acceptance of imperfection, and combined with "natural wine", a cynical mind may believe that the winemaker is covering himself for technical flaws. Be warned that there is a serious CO2 sparkle in this wine, but with a wild decanting you can get rid of most of that. The hipsters might be disappointed that this is not the stinky, cloudy kind of "natural" wine they (pretend to) love so much. Clean nose with cassis and violets. Fresh and fruity, with soft tannin and violets in the finish. Not very complex, but a very enjoyable easy-drinking wine.
