Celebrating Valentine’s Day with takeout from the Canteen. Great Nebbiolo brick color. Currants, leather, tobacco, wet granite, dried fruit, roasted strawberries, brambles. Barbaresco finesse and acids but with a touch of farmy brawniness and Barolo-like heft. From Flatiron Wines. 02/13/21

Nebbiolo is really growing on me – and while I have to work on distinguishing the difference between Barolo and Barbaresco, I’ll keep enjoying these strange & inspiring flavors; over-the-hill rose petals, jam, and incinerating tannins.
