There may be a good reason for this rating. I bought and kept it in my fridge for a good month or so and then broke it out. But this immediately disappointed me. It was $10 but ten dollar wines can be good surprises sometimes. Not this time. Notes of lemon, pear and apricot Overly sweet, with a bizarre lingering aftertaste. Not for me.

Bought this to make French Onion soup. It was up to that task, but left me with 3/4 of a bottle. I paid $7.99 and it drank like its price. Medium-bodied with a decent mouth feel. Some pear and honey up front, followed quickly by lots of oak and butter. Something almost artificial about the finish with a lingering astringency. Almost no acidity. It’s not undrinkable, and improved as it opened, but wouldn’t recommend unless you’re ALSO cooking some soup that calls for a “buttery” Chardonnay.
