Light ruby color. Intense vanilla on the nose with just a little carrot, clove, and allspice. Light body with more vanilla, cherry, and some unexpected but not unpleasant wood smoke reminiscent of a BBQ on the finish. — 4 years ago
Wegman’s pickup for $6. Most of the bottle went to braise some short rib. One glass for the chef. Dark ruby to purple color. Alcohol, red cherry, and dark earth in the bouquet. Yeasty bread, fresh earth, and mushroom on the nose. Medium bodied, but full for a Pinot Noir. Medium + acidity to balance reasonable sweetness. Game meat and smoke against dates and figs. Lingers with a lot more tannin than expected and extended smoke for the finish. Lots of complexity. — 4 years ago
Crisp, and straw to hay in color. Melon, honeydew, and honey on the nose. Apple and cured ham at the beginning, followed by butter and slight minerality in the quick finish. A little bit of lingering alcohol. Medium body, medium acidity. — 4 years ago
Ruby color. Surprising amount of alcohol still in the nose with some fig, grapefruit, and tilled earth. Medium- body, especially for a Sangiovese. Medium acidity with fresh strawberries backed by light leather and less alcohol than anticipated from the nose. Moderately short finish. — 4 years ago
Dark ruby. Alcohol is heavy on the bouquet. Ripe cherry and pomegranate if you can get past the alcohol. Full-bodied. Cherry and fig first. Finishes with some added leather a hint of clove. — 4 years ago

Blown away by this one. Let it open for an hour. Garnet colored with a nose heavy on vanilla, cherry, raisin, clove, star anise. Very dry with some warm tobacco, earth, and game backed with cassis. Moderate tannins that work well within the wine. Medium-bodied, moderate finish. — 3 years ago
