d'Arenberg
The Olive Grove McLaren Vale Chardonnay
Lovely ripe citrus fruits on the nose balanced with soft acid (mlf? treatment) and assertive oak to round of the medium finish.

Довольно типичное австралийское Шардоне с присутствием дуба, без каких-то серьезных явных персональных достоинств дополнительно

Surprisingly this combo of the d’Arenberg ‘The Olive Grove’ 2017 Chardonnay from South Australia went really well with a square or two of this Whittakers Dark Salted Caramel chocolate 🙌 Who would have thought!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When looking up what the name meant I learnt that apparently there are a lot of olive trees in McLaren Vale, including in d’Arenberg’s Chardonnay vineyard, hence the name! I picked this bottle up for $15 from my local bottle shop.

This Chardy is a really tropical 🌴 one with plenty of tropical fruit notes on the nose and in the mouth it’s ultra smooth with particular flavours of tangerine 🍊 for me. There’s some oak which is very neatly weaved into the fruitiness.

All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy! #tcweekdaywine

Oaky chardonnay from down under. Why not?
There is a bit of reduction at first that blows away after a while. Then comes butter and vanilla scents, along with a bit of a citrusy touch. The palate is broad and wide, with a soft, buttery mouuthfeel. It's not very acidic, but there is some grip in the rear. The finish is citrusy and buttery and goes on for a while despite a relative lack of acid drive. It's good but relatively simple and unremarkable.

Fantastic - rich okay wine with tropical notes, reminiscent of a viognier.
Great value at £12/ $14
