d'Arenberg
The Love Grass McLaren Vale Shiraz
Delightful Shiraz. Great accompaniment to my grass fed ribeye (although, sadly dining alone).

Mar 28th, 2014"Lovegrass is a weed that grows in the vineyards and its sticky flowers affectionately attach themselves to vineyard workers socks" and that's how this d'Arenberg 2014 Shiraz from McLaren got its name!
Interesting this wine is also 'foot trod & basket pressed'. We matched this beauty up with hotdog night and between you and me, it went awesomely with the BBQ sauce! Both the VinoFood Merlot BBQ sauce pictured here and Sweet Baby Rays (a fave of Mr. Spittoon's) were a wonderful match.
And the wine... Deep shiny garnet colour on the eye. On the nose I picked up notes of spice, smoked meat, berries, red liquorice and some oak. In the mouth it's full of dark black fruits and lingering tannins. It really does linger the same way the Lovegrass flowers do 😜
This bottle is part of the Wine Selectors 'Australian Shiraz Showcase' to celebrate the Australian First Families of Wine and perhaps Australia's premier grape variety 🤘
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy! #sample #tcweekdaywine #tctastingnotes

Jan 17th, 2024Very plum forward and jammy. Had a little carbonated like fiz on the backend but that went away once I let it breathe. Pretty alright, not top 10 Shiraz for me.

Jun 13th, 2023I expected less. But a strawberry, blackberry, leather and smoke maybe - made very nice shiraz.

Jun 9th, 2023After letting it breathe, every glass was delightful and refreshing. I like full bodied reds and this was satisfying.
