d'Arenberg
Stephanie the Gnome Adelaide Hills Rosé
This McLaren Vale Wine (not sure where Delectable is getting “Mount Lofty Ranges”) is deep cherry red with hot pink highlights. Nose and palate of bright Montmorency cherries and patent leather with a faint echo of red Kool-Aid from the carbonic maceration. Form backbone of acidity and just a hint of tannin on the tongue. Should appeal to the fruit-driven crowd as much as to wine geeks.

Sep 17th, 2017Deep but bright cherry red with magenta highlights. Montmorency cherry and patent leather on the shy-ish nose; echoed on the palate. Medium full body, medium acidity, very faint hint of tannin. Lengthy tart cherry finish. Great with food of course, but a good hearty sipper as well. A rosé for Red drinkers.

Jun 27th, 2017Made from Shiraz & Sangiovese that creates a much darker color Rosé. Nose of; dark raspberries, bubble gum (made in the carbonic maceration style), pink roses, bright raspberries and pink roses, strawberries, cherries and a hint of brewed coffee. Palate of candied; strawberries, cherries, raspberries, black raspberries, black cherries, red florals, brewed tea, delicate chalkiness & minerality with good acidity and finish. Photos show their concrete open top fermenters and an old 23,000 liter oak vat still in use.

Aug 23rd, 2014My friend Nomie popped over with this wee bottle to taste from d'Arenberg and even sober I still don't understand why 'Stephanie the Gnome with Rose Tinted Glasses' is referred to as a He on the back label? Drag queen perhaps? On the d'Arenberg website he looks fairly masculine. Can anyone shed some light?
More to the point this deep 2016 rose is a blend of Shiraz and Sangiovese from the
McLaren Vale region in South Australia.
Deep magenta colour on the eye that almost looks like a red wine. The nose is full of black and red fruits particularly black cherries and raspberries with a hint of savoury biltong. The palate also has a nice balance of sweet and savoury with plentiful cherries, lemon zest and herbs coming through. It packs a punch!
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy! #tcweekdaywine #tctastingnotes
