When you dress like the wine bottle 💁‍♀️

Yes I’m in my pyjamas... don’t judge. It’s my most favourite #winetastingoutfit (yes apparently that’s a popular hashtag 😳).

Thank you Dandelion Vineyards for this sample bottle of your 2019 Damsel of the Barossa Merlot from you guessed it, South Australia’s Barossa Valley.

The grapes come from 35 year old vines (what a great age 😜) where it was handpicked. It spent 10 months maturing in older French and American Oak before being released.

This new $30 release is drinking well now if you ask me, however it definitely will age too. Throw all your assumptions of Merlot out the window and let this one wow 🤩 you.

We found it a deep velvet magenta shade in the glass. Blackberries, oak laced with vanilla, cherry tobacco/cigar and a hint of marzipan/almond come through on the nose. While in the mouth it’s super smooth and has this oh my *cue fanning face to cool down* oomph of tannins. It builds as it travels through your palate. A rich, juicy and unapologetically delicious Merlot.

This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it.

All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!
