Fun Friday evening with great wines.
I didn’t know this wasn’t 100% cab, so when I compared it against the ‘07 O’Shaughnessey Howell, I was shocked at the difference. Then saw that it was mainly split of cab, merlot and cab franc. The franc here is very prominent up front...very floral, like fresh dark potpourri. Added underripe blackberry and sweet smoke. On the palate, merlot shows well with ripe black cherry, baking spices, currant and a nimble structure...light, with good acidity and strong tannins. Slowly unfurling, I’d decant if opening soon.
