This wasn’t given the time it deserved as this was enjoyed at pop and pour. Coiled up tight. Rich dark berries, licorice, baking spices and cocoa up front. A very densely packed mid palate...graham cracker, more licorice, fig and a juicy/fresh squeezed core of dark fruit. Need to try one of these when it has time to open up.

A funny name but a really well made wine. Never heard of this producer but I liked the powerful core of blue and black fruit. Nice balance and an impressive long, smooth finish for such a young Pritchard Hill Cab.

Feb 10th, 2024I rated this wine a few months ago but I must admit it has evolved significantly in that short period of time. Wonderful dark fruit, spice and herbaceousness on the nose. On the palate I get grape jam on steroids, cinnamon, licorice and a little earthiness. A very complex wine that is wonderfully balanced and structured. Perhaps the next Napa cult wine! Love it.

May 18th, 2016Another beautiful wine from Dakota Shy. Visually a very pretty wine in your glass. Great aromas of black fruit, eucalyptus and black pepper on the nose. Bold tastes of blackberries, baking spice, and mocha on the palate. A very nice finish with a great mouthfeel. Excellent structure with very refined tannins and great acidity. Dakota Shy may wind up being one of those greatly sought after small production run wines from Napa.

Beautiful, big red. Very smooth to your tongue, not too fruit forward. Soft, velvet finish.
