Columbia Winery
Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Time for my #FridayCabernetfix. Here's a fruity one from Washington State.
Dark ruby in color with a reddish rim.
Fruity nose with blueberries, light oak, blackberries, black cherries, earth, light vanilla, spices, pencil lead, chocolates, bitter herbs, light vegetables and black pepper.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity and nice legs.
Dry and fruity on the palate with black currants, plums, cherries, dark chocolates, wood, earth, vegetables, black licorice, peppercorn and spices.
Medium finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a nice Cabernet from Columbia Valley. Nicely balanced with mild complexity.
Good right out of the bottle, but after an hour of airtime, it gets nice structure with tannins and complexity.
Peaking now and would be nice in the next year or two.
I paired it with barbecue T-bone steak and vegetables.
13.7% alcohol by volume.
88 points.
$14.

It’s a good solid wine. Off top it was a little toooooo...too. Given a smidge if time and air it is friendly and basic but balanced. And balanced is my favorite characteristic in wine. This is workaday wine. This is lower on the Columbia rung—I’ve had ones from them I like more but this one is thoroughly enjoyable.
