Deep and dark ruby red with an opaque core that coats the glass. Layered and rich nose with notes of dark red berries, lots of floral notes, light cherry cola and black tea. Heavy tannins (8.5/10) and full bodied. Solid acidity and structure. Layered palate with anise, red cherries, raspberries, a touch savory and lots of minerality. Long finish but this needs time to become more integrated.

Red and blue fruits, minerals, earth, graphite. Somehow has finesse and elegance while feeling the power.

1 hour decant(lots of chunky/fine sediment). A splendid still dark garnet color with a little bricking. On the nose: sweet red/blue fruit, pencil shavings, forest floor, little stewed meat, cigar box. Taste: silky, lengthy, deep, polished wine with red berries, charred earth, dark chocolate, tobacco, and a spiced mocha long lingering finish. YUM!

Dec 8th, 2016Massive, lovely wine. Raspberry, blueberry, tea, tobacco leaves, wet oak, slate. Surprised at how different (better IMO) this was versus the 2012 IX Estate.

Nose that's a bit herbal and black fruits. Palate shows great fruit and flashy floral tones with great long finish. Tannins are silky. Aging potential unclear? $450. Well! GW tasting of 2012 CA Cab. 10/24/16.
