First of all - A for effort! I LOVE when growers risk it and plant Syrah next to their Pinot Noir in the Willamette Valley. Syrah really wants to grow in "a warm spot in a cold place", so certain parts of the WV are perfect. First day open was super tight and mostly vegetal with very little fruit showing. Two days later, the partial bottle had opened up nicely. Black raspberries, soy, cranberry, leather, hint of pepper. If I tried a 2012 in another couple of years, would probably get an even higher grade.
